a new venture!

Hi everybody! I have been following a lot of blogs for a while now but never actually blogged for myself.....to tell the truth......I am a bit, well a lot, well maybe totally, computer illiterate!!! And doing this scares me, SO, please be patient with me and I will try my best. I haven't even worked out how to put pictures from the camera on the computer yet..... I have a feeling that I will be calling in a lot of favours from friends and family over the coming days!! I think my 7 year old grandson has more knowledge of things technical than I. Anyway I suppose I had better tell you a little about myself. I live in a small town in North Yorkshire, but am a country girl at heart! I used to have my own soft furnishing business untill a short while ago, when I had to give it up because of ill health..... will tell you about that in a later blog. I love all things crafty........... especially sewing, patchwork, knitting, crotchet, cross stitch, and papercrafts. I am never happier than if I have something in my hands to work on, usually several things on the go at once! I also love horse riding and am very priveliged to have the use of a friends horse whenever I want. For all you ' horsey' people out there, he is a beautiful liver chestnut, Irish Draught, 16.3 hh and his name is Louis. I also have part ownership of some chickens along with my 10 year old Grandson. They live on a farm so it is ideal. Him and I went to a fur and feather sale on Saturdy at a local Auction Mart and had great fun bidding and winning a very large cockeral to go with our girls. He is very striking, but I am not sure that the girls think so yet! Well, I think I will leave this here and see which button I press next to send thisn for you all to read. Thank you for taking time to look at this. Love from Wendy.

  1. Hello, thanks for your kind comment on my blog. I think we both have a lot in common by the sound of it. Don't worry about blogging, you'll soon get the hang of it. I'll drop by again soon!

  2. Hello Wendy
Congratulations on your first post. I hope you do it more regularly than me! I live on Crosby Road and I am guessing you went to the fur and feather at Thirsk. We are doing a vintage and retro fair at Ingleby Cross on Sunday. Nice to know someone is blogging close to me. Linda is lovely isn't she I keep meaning to go and have lunch at the Farm Shop, I work at NYCC and we gave Maria a grant to get started and they have done so well. I also go to the auctions in Northallerton do you??

  3. Hi Wendy I keep checking to see if have posted - you are as bad as me!! The news here is that on Thursday I was made redundant from County Hall, one of many. I am now on redeployment! along with about 100 others. I am 55 in July so they have to pay my pension early as it stands on the day I leave, it isnt much as I have only been paying into it for 12 years but better than nothing. I just hope I don't have to take a horrible job I don't want as they dont like making anyone redundant because of the cost. As usual the jobs have gone from the bottom which they will regret. My line manager (and friend) has also been made redundant, she has put her house on the market as she is trying to get rid of her mortgage to ease her life if she cant get a job.
